Serious work and Playfulness

Uncovering, discovering, exploring and cultivating your capacities has serious consequences for your health, relationships, career, finances and everything in your life.

If you’ve been living with pain — physical or psychological, emotional, financial — and then that pain is somehow relieved, that’s a serious chance and improvement in your experience of life.

Then when you learn how to do that for yourself — alleviate a pain, change/improve a situation, whatever you desire or require — that’s when you may feel a cascade of emotions — disbelief, relief, excited, wondering what else is possible and maybe even giddy! Anything is possible makes you feel pretty darn playful!

Playing with Life, the Universe and Everything is pretty dang fantastic!

Empowering, feeling powerful and confident about your ability to change your reality in any given moment is energizing and relaxing both for your nervous system.

A lot of us have had to seriously navigate through life due to a myriad of challenges: physical or psychological challenges, limitations, blocks, misinformation, inaccurate conclusions, assumptions, projections down to how your system functions.

All of this, managing it all, sorting through it all, clearing and processing all that is confusing and time consuming — and very serious.

When you’re trying to do something that you don’t know how to do, don’t have good models for, and have a deplorable lack of good information for, you feel pretty compressed, constrained, uncertain, irritated and frustrated.

When you’ve been through many situations that you’ve turned from fraught to free, from tight to liberated, from constrained to ease, you tend to feel pretty playful.

The quality of choices and decisions we make when we’re seriously uncertain, constrained, and limited is notoriously low.

When we’re in survival mode, all we can perceive is threat, danger and barely tolerate the idea of not living from that constant state of alarm. This tightens all the muscles and restricts blood and air flow through the body, which lowers the functioning of all systems, including executive brain functioning. The lack of oxygen from shallow breathing sets up a chain reaction in all the bodies systems, and a strain on the nervous system set in a state of alert. Things like high cortisol levels also impair executive thought function, and considerably limits one’s sense of what is possible, reducing everything to binary if/then thinking, which is not conducive to creative solutions or a happy, fulfilled — and playful — life and living.

It’s appropriate to be serious about the pains, challenges and difficulties in your life, and to pursue people and approaches to not just help you accept the limitations, but learn to grow past them whenever possible.

A note about playful, fun, amusement — and creativity.

These are some of the highest — and most healing — energies we have.

Amusement, creativity — these energies feel light, bright, tickling-your-insides, inspiring, energizing, de-light-full to the body. Like when you feel lucky — it feels like you can’t fail.

But when you’ve been struggling for a long time, with any kind of pain, sensation, or emotion, then playful, light, bright, amusing, fun, creative can all seem — frivolous, unhelpful, a distraction, and missing the point.

Some people think that if you’re playful, fun, amused, or creative, you won’t get anything done.

Turns out that when you’re free from pain as your motivator, you can create, manifest, and actualize a thousand times more than fear can every make you do.

Think about something you are really, really good at.

Think about how unthreatened by it you are.

Think about how many mistakes you made and grew through, so that you know — from experience — that any snafu or mistakes or accidents that come up around that thing, you know, you KNOW you know how to navigate it, and you KNOW that if you don’t know what to do in the first 30 seconds, you know that you KNOW how to find out what to do to get things flowing again. It’s not an emotion, or a wishful thinking thought — it’s as solid as the floor beneath your feet that even if you don’t know off the top of your head before and, you know you will bring it all to rights — because you’ve done that so many times!

That journey — from seriously stuck/challenged to seriously playful in flow — is the journey I facilitate people through.

The work I do with people has shamanic aspects, past self healing, as well as energetic awareness practices, exercises, tools and techniques that have evolved through years of working closely with thousands people, transforming areas their lives from compost to the most beautiful, unique garden ever, with more ease, magic, and fun then they ever thought possible.
